Medicine Fiasco
Nov. 20th, 2021 06:16 pmWei've had quite a two weeks.
Last Monday I was told the pharmacy was out of stock of a medicine I'm prescribed, and they could only give me 3 instead of 30. That... sucks, but happens. I was assured more was on order and I'd be notified when it came in. Naturally, that didn't happen. So a week later I went back and was given 7 more pills that were 'out of stock'?? and told that actually the issue is that my insurance only covers a single brand of this medication. If I could just get an exception from them, everything would surely be fine.
So me and my social anxiety sat down and had a nice long chat together and after only three days I managed to get through the automated answering machine, talk to a real person, and get some advice on how to get my meds. Naturally, they decided to tell me about some more problems too! Very fun. The pharmacy had billed insurance for the full 30 pill prescription and insurance wouldn't cover more until that was fixed. So I set off bright and early this morning, notes in hand, alternative pharmacy at the ready, and set to finally, finally get my medicine.
CVS was closed, turns out they'd changed their pharmacy hours in the last few weeks and I was two hours early for open. So I go to my alternative pharmacy, given to me by my insurance as confirmed to carry the covered brand. I figured I could put in the prescription, go figure out the billing with CVS, then come back when it's filled and ready. Naturally, I was told they don't and never have carried that brand of medicine (why are there brands of medicine anyway? It's chemically identical, that's the whole fucking point!). So after killing time at the library for an hour and having a little bit of a cry, I made my way back to CVS and watched the pharmacist fill my prescription, then not give it to me. Turns out! There were even more problems! My doctor had cancelled and reissued my prescription while I was struggling to get it filled (?????) and that was why I had never been notified. And of course they couldn't give me *these* pills until they work out the billing issue.
Tomorrow, hopefully, finally, I will have the medicine that was due for a refill on the 8th. We'll see.
Anyway in conclusion death to amerika
